Girl Stuff Nail Lacquer in Plink

Keeping my nails colored hasn’t exactly been at the top of my priority list lately. Fingernails and knitting needles tend to crash into each other every so often, and the nail polish chips off faster than usual. But what the heck? It’s a weekend, and I was feeling like it. YOLO. Tag, you’re it, Girl Stuff Nail Lacquer in Plink (PHP 100).

Plink is a high-gloss, cheery light pink that brings to mind the most girly shades of pink. It’s a little bit of the 80’s (yes, the decade), carnation pink Crayola, Barbie, and bubblegum contained in a small bottle. Quality is more or less the same as the other two colors of Girl Stuff that I’ve reviewed previously, Audrey and Marilyn, with the exception of this significantly lighter color being more streak-prone. It took me three coats, instead of the usual two, to get a completely opaque result.

How did it fare during the sleep test? Since I’m a “rightie”, the color on my left hand maintained its gloss with very minimal scratches. My right hand, however, got pressed up against the bedding at some point during the night. The thumb, middle finger, and ring finger ended up looking near-matte from the small scratches. I don’t blame the formula, though. It’s a matter of working on my dexterity, I suppose.

That’s it for now! I’m looking to finish my knitting project over the weekend.

Heavy Metallic Shadow

You have no idea how many metallic shadows I’ve purchased in the name of trying to achieve a highly pigmented foil effect on my lids. I still haven’t gotten there 100%, but the closest to date is an attempt to get regular-wear drugstore eye shadows to pack on the pigment and last all day. What’s the trick?

Talas Manileño Barbershop

What am I doing reviewing a barbershop? Well, since I accompanied M to get his hair cut and spent the better part of an hour staring at the flurry of activity that is three men getting groomed simultaneously, we decided it fitting to co-write about the experience.

TALAS Manileño Barbershop was a curiosity to us, even before it opened its doors officially. As usual, we were hanging out at UVLA in Cubao X when we found out about a fancy, new barbershop in the works. Eva’s mom, “Mrs. Jackfruit”, excitedly announced that she had taken a pre-opening tour of the cozy, two-story shop owned by Pinoy actor, Jericho Rosales of HUNKS and Pangako Sa ‘Yo fame. M was particularly tickled by the idea of a full-service barbershop opening soon as he was due for a new look. (Can you tell that he’s practically more vain than I am? Tee hee hee.) Continue reading

MY FIRST GIVE AWAY! 1 Year Anniversary + 100 Posts!

Talking about Beauty

Hey Everyone!

I can’t say how excited I am for today’s post! 😀

Throughout last week,  I achieved two blogging milestones. The Tuesday 12th May marked the first post I ever did. I hadn’t actually posted again after about a month or so, and only started posting regularly from the end of August. Nevertheless, that was when the journey first started!

Also, on Friday 15th May I posted my 100th post! I just can’t believe it! So much has happened in the past year and I’m so happy with my little corner of the internet 🙂 There’s a lot that I still want to do and improve on, but hopefully that will come in time.

Most importantly, I want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read, comment and share. It is the time that you give to me and my blog that…

Kissako Uji Matcha Cafe

When I think about Matcha green tea, I think of opposite ends of the spectrum. It’s the type of ingredient you either love or hate, kind of like truffles. It’s an acquired taste for those who resolve to broaden their foodie horizons. It’s highly addictive for me and my foodie buddy, [Mr.] Y. It’s also the star ingredient of Kissako Uji Matcha Cafe in Kapitolyo, Pasig, a place that we’ve visited and revisited in the same month thrice and twice, respectively.
