I’ve used an argan oil serum and argan oil soap before, but I treated them like precious gold. “On my hair?? I’ll just use them on my face!” I was terrified to squander such a luxury, especially when argan was just new in the market and oh-so-rare. But 2015 is a different story, and that precious oil can now be found in some of the most affordable drugstore brands. One of the latest brands to carry argan-infused products is Moringa-O2 Malunggay Herbal Shampoo and Conditioner with Argan Oil (PHP 180 each).

Five Things About Moringa-O2 Malunggay Herbal Shampoo and Conditioner with Argan Oil:
- Have you ever heard of packaging that’s a double-edged sword? This one is. On one hand, I appreciate that the bottle of shampoo is printed with a yellow-to-brown gradient color scheme that’s reversed for the conditioner, so it’s easier to grab the right bottle while in the shower. On the other hand, my conditioner’s brittle plastic cap did not survive a 4-ft fall from my shower caddy.
- The scent reminds me of old-school Clairol Herbal Essences! That’s a winner in my book. It has that floral-fruity scent that isn’t irritatingly sweet. Think chamomile with green apple or guava.
- The shampoo lathers up nicely, though less aggressively than other commercial shampoo brands. Hair doesn’t feel any less cleaner afterwards.
- While the conditioner is fairly standard, I found the consistency a bit too thick for the tiny hole of the dispenser. I have it upside down and I just open the screw cap to get the contents out. Sorry, I haven’t the patience to squeeze and squeeze. Perhaps it’s due to my over-processed hair, but the conditioner didn’t quite cut it. As with the shampoo, it’s your typical formula, but it’s not particularly more moisturizing that its peers. I, sometimes, layer another conditioner over it.
- It’s on the pricier end of drugstore hair care.

Verdict: Functions like your typical drugstore shampoo and conditioner. Didn’t notice any particular improvement from the addition of argan oil. Buy it because of the amazing scent (Mmmm… smells so clean and fresh!), rather than going for it based on the claims.

I also have that problem with the conditioner, it’s hard to squeeze so I don’t usually reach out to it though I’m planning to find a pump lid from other bottles and change it, if it fits XD
Great idea. Been storing it upside down, but it’s not the most balanced. That’s what probably contributed to its fall (and subsequent lid breakage).
I’d get this for the sake of the old-school Herbal Essences scent :)) the formula was too strong for tropical weather washing anyway. As for the argan oil bit, I don’t think they put in enough, or maybe because shampoo and conditioner are washed off? Baka better if hair mask nalang or leave-in conditioner. Baka :))
Luckily, they have an argan oil hair serum as well! (Kudos to them for coming up with a complete line.) I’m also using it, and will review later.

Thank you. 🙂 After argan oil, there seemed to be a slew of beneficial oil releases in the market. Emu, maracuja, etc., but I think my favorite is still argan.
