I found this video where the Buzzfeed ladies try edible makeup, and it got me thinking. “What are the cosmetics produced in the Philippines that are good enough to eat?” I haven’t heard of such a local product yet that is safe enough to spoon into the mouth, but Zenutrients Rich Cocoa Body Butter (PHP 284) sure comes close.
Quick Specs: 100 g ; all-natural; made in the Philippines
I’m crazy about this 100 g plastic jar. It’s the perfect sort of thing to pop into a gym or overnight bag, and it looks like it’s built for travel. There’s even a stopper inside to help prevent the body butter from spilling. However, I would suggest keeping your duffel out of the heat as I cannot predict if this melts easily when left in, let’s say, a car parked outdoors.
Inside, the rich body butter has a cream-colored, pudding-like appearance. I initially expected it to be a heavy moisturizer, because that happens to be my general impression of body butters (and cocoa butter, for that matter). This turned out to be the polar opposite. The emollient body butter immediately melts onto the skin like a moisturizing gel, but with a light lotion finish. Though the primary ingredient is virgin coconut oil (aka VCO), this doesn’t feel oily or greasy at all. In fact, it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave any residue. Summer moisturizer alert!
Of course, let’s not forget to talk about the chocolate scent. It deserves a paragraph all on its own. I expected the strong scent of coconut, a love or hate scent for some, but this is more like a sweet milk chocolate. It’s like being in a chocolate shop, waiting to make your order. *Sigh* The scent doesn’t linger too long, so it won’t interfere with any fragrance you’re using. Give it 10-15 minutes to fade. You’ll only smell if you press your nose up against your skin.
Verdict: Now let me pose a question. If you’re on a diet and couldn’t eat sweets, would this jar of Zenutrients cocoa body butter be a good alternative for smelling like the real thing? Either it works or it’s torture, but it undoubtedly feels amazing and smells like dessert!
