I think I’m starting to develop a preference for Kbeauty brand, The Saem. Back in circa 2012, it was my dad who unintentionally introduced me to it during a trip to Korea. Not usually a skincare person, he caught sight of the never-ending lineup of beauty stores and decided he wanted to try some anti-aging stuff. I saw their Gem Miracle line with shimmer pigments and pearly balls suspended in their toner and serum, respectively. This was a relatively new concept (at least, to me) at the time, and it blew my mind. Fast forward to 2016-2017, where the brand still doesn’t have a boutique in the Philippines, but they do have several items for sale in Althea Korea.
Just like that day when I spotted the Gem Miracle line, I found myself amazed at the presentation of the The Saem Iceland skincare line. In fact, it has now become my summer skincare routine.

Are there moments where you find yourself looking for something different? Something out of the ordinary? In terms of makeup purchases, I satisfy that little “wanderlust” by switching up beauty brands from time to time. Trendy picks are all well and good, but the basics are not to be missed. And what could get more simple and true than the need to have groomed brows at the very least? Enter the Muji Eyebrow Pencil:

The other day, I got to thinking about my cleansing habits. I can’t imagine going without the two-step method of using a designated makeup remover first (micellar, bi-phase, cleansing oil, etc.) followed by a foaming facial wash. But when I was in high school and college, I only used to go for a heavy foam, heavy-duty (read: drying) facial wash and and proceeded with a cotton soaked with an alcohol-based toner. In retrospect, yikes.
Anyway, I’m much more particular about cleansers nowadays due to my dry skin. And since I’ve read a lot of raves about Aveda products, I decided to give Aveda Botanical Kinetics Purifying Creme Cleanser (USD 25 for 5 fl oz / 150ml) a shot.

While the first quarter of 2017 may be done, I am still sorting through my 2016 holiday haul. Naturally, beauty-loving friends went a little Black Friday gaga and pooled our US purchases for shipping to Manila. The first of my buys making a debut for review here is the Intro to Tarte Deluxe Discovery Set (USD 10). *Note that this is a limited edition set for Black Friday that is no longer being sold, but there are resellers still offering this set.

Summertime! Time to bust out the cushion compacts in an attempt to make my makeup last longer. 😀 And because I want to look fresh and bright without going full-on dewy (pass on the greasy look in the middle of summer), a mattifying cushion compact felt like a safe investment to me. Meet The Face Shop Miracle Finish Oil Control Water Cushion in V103 Pure Beige (PHP 1,095).
