Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask

Currently, my biggest beauty undertaking of 2018 is joining the #ABMidyearStashChallenge on Instagram. The prospect of sorting through my collection and categorizing/documenting what I have is helpful in maintaining my beauty low-buy pledge, since I’m being met with the sheer amount I still have to use up. It’s also also caused me to dig through the beauty products that I’ve nearly forgotten about. Now I’m in the mood to line them up for review, starting with the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask in Vitalizing (estimated PHP 400 / USD 9).

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder

Do you prefer a subtle highlighter, a blingy highlighter, or does it depend on the mood? I did a lot of frenzied buying some years back, but cut the whole thing short after I discovered HG goodness of both TheBalm Mary-lou Manizer and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector. While I still picked up a couple of compacts here and there—I am partial to powder formulas— nothing major stood out until I swatched the Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow (PHP 349 / USD 4.99) at a mall and went gaga for the intense bling.

Becca First Light Priming Filter

Since 2017, I have embraced the glass skin makeup obsession. I say makeup, because I know that I’m not there yet with my skincare routine. So the next best thing is to “fake it ’til you make it,” or so they say. And this can be achieved with the strategic use of radiance primers and highlighters. After getting to know and love the famous Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector, my expectations were high for the Becca First Light Priming Filter (full-sized 30ml at PHP 2,234 / USD 38).

In2It Sparkling Eyeshadow

Time and time again, I make it a point to drop by the In2It counter at my local drugstore beauty haunt (a.k.a. Watsons). After trying out this affordable Thai brand’s blush, lipstick, powder eyeshadow, and powder foundation, I generally trust their products to be of great quality and the colors to be universally flattering. On my last browsing session, I came across one of their latest offerings, the In2It Sparkling Eyeshadow in SE04 Rose Gold (PHP 299.75).

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Foundation

Some months ago, there was a conversation with some beauty community friends about formal event makeup and whether or not hiring a makeup artist was necessary for the ladies who pretty much know their way around a beat face. My thoughts: If I ever got to HD-levels with the help of a couple of workshops or YouTube vids, then why not? Then I’d spring for some holy grail pieces to get the job done.

At the time, the prospect of finding that next-level full coverage foundation seemed like a distant dream. But getting my hands on the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Foundation in 2W0 Warm Vanilla (PHP 2,400 / USD 42) takes the vision closer to reality.
