Since I rang in 2018, I’ve been spending more time shopping the beauty stash than shopping for new things. It has a lot to do with a hall closet that turned into a beauty vault during the time of the Great Hoard of 2015-2016. With that said, I’ve been quietly using up what I’ve amassed (for both the full-sized and sample-sized product categories), so expect there to be more empties posts this year.
For the first quarter, here’s the meager spread I’ve started with:
Biore, Bobbi Brown, and Estee Lauder
Is it me, or is the holiday season slow approaching? I’m surprised that I’m not seeing more festive mall decor, especially in the Philippines where the Christmas enthusiasm is on another level. Then again, there is no shortage of Christmas songs in circulation. I’m only glad that I have yet to hear the medleys.
Anyway, all this talk of yuletide cheer makes me think of, you guessed it, holiday sets! And because I want to make room in my
hoarder’s pile closet for new stuff, I set my mind to proactively finishing up the older items in my stash. These are my current empties:
Clockwise From Top: Nars Deep Throat Blush, L’Occitane Cerisier Princesse Hand Cream, and The Body Shop Olive Body Butter
The holidays are over, but I sure do miss that season the most. Off the top of my head, the three things I love are: the extended mall hours (and malls besting each other in the sparkling decor), the onslaught of holiday beauty value sets, and the whole sensorial experience that it is. There are comforting flavors and smells that go along with the most wonderful time of year, and Strip Manila makes your next wax session a nostalgic one with the release of their limited edition Mulled Wine Wax.

Random Personal Update: I pledged 20 books on Good Reads, and I’ve still got 8 books to go before the end of the year. Still going through a lot of YA thrillers, because that’s often the way to get me to finish a book within 10 days. (Meaning, I elect to lose sleep to go through a page-turner.)
Also, re-watching the entire Harry Potter series in time for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It’s something of a personal tradition that started with every HP book release. Only then, I used to re-read the books. I don’t have the time to do that now, so the condensed 2-hour version should suffice. (BTW, have you guys seen the fanart of the HP-themed shadow palettes? Merlin’s beard, please let them become a reality!)
Buuut, going back to beauty, here are my latest empties. There’s quite a bit of them this time:
Clockwise from Top-Left: Nivea Extra White Firming Body Lotion, The Body Shop Shea Body Butter, Nivea Creme, Zenutrients Rich Cocoa Body Butter
Have you seen Cathy Doll products at your nearby department store yet? It’s a Korean-inspired brand distributed by a Thai company, Karmarts, and it came to the Philippine market with a bang. I was able to attend the launch event on behalf of Project Vanity and was wowed by the humongous lineup of makeup and skincare items they brought in. You can pretty much shop for head-to-toe products from this brand, and the offerings are affordable—perhaps on the higher range of drugstore prices, but reasonable.
I was so overwhelmed with what to try out first that I couldn’t even decide what to write about. Luckily, I ran out of feminine wash, and so the circumstance made the decision for me. Let’s discuss Cathy Doll Come On Baby Intimate Cleansing Gel Very Sensitive (PHP 169).
