I like to think that I am fairly well-versed when it comes to facial exfoliation. In my stash, you will find several kinds of face scrubs as well as acid exfoliators that I try to remember to use on a weekly basis. However, this is actually the first time I’ve tried a lip exfoliating product, and Ellana Edible Sugar Lip Scrub in Watermelon Mint (PHP399) is guiding the way.

I swear I’m supposed to be on a lipstick ban, but here I go again. Not to sound like a jaded jerk, but after finding that I had over 50 stashed in my lipstick storage, I figured enough is enough. The only way I would want to buy another lippie that I probably won’t finish is if: A) the color/finish is unique; B) a luxe brand goes on super sale; and C) the formula is a winner. It’s the latter for BLK Cosmetics Velvet Lip Cream in Flirty (PHP 299), coupled with the curiosity as to how a super-famous Pinay celeb like Anne Curtis will curate her own makeup line.

I’ve always been excited by each new Viva Glam release from MAC. It’s a great
excuse reason to add to my lippie collection while also doing a good deed. But at the same time, I still want to pick out lipsticks that I know would be a flattering choice. From reading the reviews, seeing the swatches, and taking into consideration how flattering fuchsia lipsticks are, I instantly knew that
I just had to have the MAC Viva Glam Taraji P Henson Matte Lipstick (USD 17.50 / PHP 1,050).

If you go through my makeup stash, you are sure to find a collection of lipsticks and, to a lesser extent, some liquid lipsticks, glosses, and a couple of lip tints. It will become apparent to you that I still prefer the more traditional delivery system of lip color. And it’s not because I am a purist. It’s just that I’ve always had trouble embracing the experience of other lip makeup. So rarely do I find a formula that isn’t sticky or drying, and I especially hate claims of long-wear lippies.
But let it be known that Peripera Peri’s Ink Velvet in Dollish Beige Rose (PHP 450) is a glorious exception. Thank goodness for yet another case of FOMO.

While the first quarter of 2017 may be done, I am still sorting through my 2016 holiday haul. Naturally, beauty-loving friends went a little Black Friday gaga and pooled our US purchases for shipping to Manila. The first of my buys making a debut for review here is the Intro to Tarte Deluxe Discovery Set (USD 10). *Note that this is a limited edition set for Black Friday that is no longer being sold, but there are resellers still offering this set.
