While I haven’t officially put myself on a spending ban for early 2018, it seems to have crept up and come into effect anyway. Aside from paying only for shipping on some free samples, I’ve actually been spending money on books instead. But this is an excellent opportunity to reassess my collection and work on the review backlog. I’ve had the Zoeva Spring Strobe Spectrum Palette (PHP1,500) for months now, and it’s time to give it the spotlight.

While I still purchase eyeshadow palettes from time to time, depending on the curating of pretty shades, I have stuck steadfastly with shadow sticks more recently. I’ve been having less time to prep before leaving the house, and the unintentional solution is to spend less time blending shadows together and more time trying to perfect my brows. (Can you relate?) So I don’t see my eyeshadow pens getting retired anytime soon. In fact, I’ve nearly finished up my beloved Laura Mercier Amethyst Caviar Stick, so I went ahead and bought a Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop Stick Eyeshadow in Leila (PHP 654 at Sephora.ph)

I swear I’m supposed to be on a lipstick ban, but here I go again. Not to sound like a jaded jerk, but after finding that I had over 50 stashed in my lipstick storage, I figured enough is enough. The only way I would want to buy another lippie that I probably won’t finish is if: A) the color/finish is unique; B) a luxe brand goes on super sale; and C) the formula is a winner. It’s the latter for BLK Cosmetics Velvet Lip Cream in Flirty (PHP 299), coupled with the curiosity as to how a super-famous Pinay celeb like Anne Curtis will curate her own makeup line.

Is it me, or is the holiday season slow approaching? I’m surprised that I’m not seeing more festive mall decor, especially in the Philippines where the Christmas enthusiasm is on another level. Then again, there is no shortage of Christmas songs in circulation. I’m only glad that I have yet to hear the medleys.
Anyway, all this talk of yuletide cheer makes me think of, you guessed it, holiday sets! And because I want to make room in my
hoarder’s pile closet for new stuff, I set my mind to proactively finishing up the older items in my stash. These are my current empties:
Clockwise From Top: Nars Deep Throat Blush, L’Occitane Cerisier Princesse Hand Cream, and The Body Shop Olive Body Butter
I’ve always been excited by each new Viva Glam release from MAC. It’s a great
excuse reason to add to my lippie collection while also doing a good deed. But at the same time, I still want to pick out lipsticks that I know would be a flattering choice. From reading the reviews, seeing the swatches, and taking into consideration how flattering fuchsia lipsticks are, I instantly knew that
I just had to have the MAC Viva Glam Taraji P Henson Matte Lipstick (USD 17.50 / PHP 1,050).
