While the first quarter of 2017 may be done, I am still sorting through my 2016 holiday haul. Naturally, beauty-loving friends went a little Black Friday gaga and pooled our US purchases for shipping to Manila. The first of my buys making a debut for review here is the Intro to Tarte Deluxe Discovery Set (USD 10). *Note that this is a limited edition set for Black Friday that is no longer being sold, but there are resellers still offering this set.

Happy Valentine’s Day! In the spirit of the occasion, I want to talk about something unabashedly pink: Early on, I was lucky enough to discover the magic of a versatile peachy-pink blush that could be used with pretty much any and all lipsticks. But now I’m in a mood to get into specifics, so I shopped away for a blush palette that would suit my growing collection of lipsticks. The one that fit the bill, in price and performance, is the Zoeva Pink Spectrum Blush Palette (PHP 1,084 ; USD 19.50) from Sephora.ph.

Random Personal Update: I pledged 20 books on Good Reads, and I’ve still got 8 books to go before the end of the year. Still going through a lot of YA thrillers, because that’s often the way to get me to finish a book within 10 days. (Meaning, I elect to lose sleep to go through a page-turner.)
Also, re-watching the entire Harry Potter series in time for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It’s something of a personal tradition that started with every HP book release. Only then, I used to re-read the books. I don’t have the time to do that now, so the condensed 2-hour version should suffice. (BTW, have you guys seen the fanart of the HP-themed shadow palettes? Merlin’s beard, please let them become a reality!)
Buuut, going back to beauty, here are my latest empties. There’s quite a bit of them this time:
Clockwise from Top-Left: Nivea Extra White Firming Body Lotion, The Body Shop Shea Body Butter, Nivea Creme, Zenutrients Rich Cocoa Body Butter
Confession: I am the girl who over-packs no matter what. When I travel with family, it is to the dismay of my mother to see just how many bath and beauty products I force into a small case. I set a rule for myself that everything has to fit into a pouch or case, but I’m always cramming things in to the point of case deformity. And even in my purse, friends often chuckle over why I insist on bringing enough makeup to do a full face from start to finish. Needless to say, the first thing that usually breaks from may vanity kit is the zipper. lol
When the Project Vanity kits came out, I was thrilled and thought the concept was genius. It’s made for hoarders like me who have a difficult time curating their kikay kit. These themed pouches (and one bag) do the thinking for you. It’s kind of like a subscription box, but with a receptacle you can tote around daily. Here’s what I brought to my vacation that significantly lessened my luggage weight:

Aside from trusty Amazon, I have only ever tried online shopping from the US once before. It was a godawful event that was enough to put me off ordering from the US for a looong time. Even ordering goods through Sephora is tricky as the stores have cracked down on shipping to freight forwarders. When a brand I’ve always wanted to try, Tarte, announced on their website that they would finally start shipping internationally, I couldn’t wait to start hauling. And then I saw the magic massage:
YAAAAAAS! The thing is, I’ve wanted to get Tarte for two years already, so I’ve been doing my research. The closest country to the Philippines that sells Tarte legally is Sephora Singapore. It’s been a huge bummer that Luxola didn’t carry Tarte, and now Sephora Philippines still doesn’t carry the brand (yet). Unless I ask Singapore vacationing friends to do me a solid, the easiest way to get my hands on Tarte products is by purchasing them myself from the site. So I contacted a couple of friends who also wanted to try the brand, and we pooled our orders together.
Here’s what you should know:
