I need to look at my stash once a month to see how many hoarded body and skin care products are still up for use. When I do, it reminds me to go on a temporary ban to finish up what’s left. Yup, it’s because I’m a sucker for sales. *shrugs* But before we get lost in hoarder issues, let’s have a look at what I actually did manage to finish:
The first time I was really and truly wowed at the prowess of a mascara was when I got my hands on a tube of Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies. I’ve been a Volum’ Express since their first few editions were released, and I always loved how it didn’t take much effort to get noticeable length and volume. Then The Falsies changed the game with unprecedented levels (at the time) of luscious lashes for less, and I went through about 3 repurchases of the beloved stuff.
Now, the beloved line is back at it again with Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara in Very Black (USD 8.49). (Cue Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.)

Do you have top buys from each beauty brand? It’s when you have re-purchased the same category from a single brand over and over that you already have that instant association in your head. For example, my top buys are: brow products = K-palette; eyeshadow = Tarte/Bobbi Brown; and pressed face powder = Maybelline. I have consistently been buying powder foundations from them as the quality and value for money are spot-on to me. I recently started using Maybelline Clearsmooth All in One Powder Foundation in 02 Nude Beige (refill compact at PHP 169 SRP), and I’ve already purchased my backup during a sale.

For the most part, I’m all done with buying fall makeup. I’m well-aware that the bolder colors I’ve chosen are only going to get the most wear for three months, then they’ll be relegated to my roster of for-evening-look beauty products. But hair is a different story. I’m actually considering changing my hair color again.
I love my lighter color to bits, but maintenance is such a hassle. I get super OC when I see the roots exceed the one inch mark. At this point, I’m seriously considering either gradually transitioning back to darker or just dyeing over the entire thing with dark brown. And then there’s the matter of switching brow makeup to match the new hair… Arrrrrgh! Changing your hair color is a major commitment.
Before we get into that complicated discussion that’s meant for another blog post, I’ll review Maybelline Fashion Brow Shaper Duo in Brown (PHP 299). We’re already on the topic of brow color anyway. Plus, I got this as part of my “emergency” Maybelline haul.

I’ve consciously decided that fall 2015 would be about smokey eyes and wine-colored lips. Not together, of course, as I’m not that gutsy. But I didn’t have to search far and wide (and spend a lot) to complete my makeup “uniform” for the chillier months. The makeup “body count” so far has only been one eye shadow, two drugstore lipsticks, and a couple of things I picked up from a blog sale. But then the holiday collections are starting to come out, and that will take a gargantuan amount of restraint. Guh.
Before I attempt to turn a blind eye to all the fall goodness, let me share an FOTD with me starting to step out with more semi-smokey eye looks before finally going all the way with the smolder. Here’s the look:
To achieve this look, I used the following: Continue reading
