FOTD: Peacock Moment

For the longest time, my deepest darkest beauty desire has been to pull off colorful eyeshadows. And it’s not for lack of trying in the past! I’ve been on the other side of the fence where improper application techniques have resulted in bruised-looking eyes. Isn’t that often the issue with blues, purples, reds, and greens?

After my past two years of neutrals galore, I think I’m ready to step into the light with playful color selections. I’ve gradually built my confidence by working with more and more pigmented shadows. I know from experience that striking shadows CANNOT be half-assed. As they say,
“Go big, or go home!” Hence, my attempt in using peacock colors as my inspiration.

Halloween FOTD: The Countess

Two Halloweens ago, I was bored and decided to do my best adaptation of Dr. Frank N Furter (“I’m just a sweet transvestite!”). It was fun, so I resolved to make it an annual thing. Sadly, I wasn’t able to do it last year as I was out of town on a trip. But I am stuck at home this year, so bring it on Halloween 2016!

I thought long and hard about what I would do, googling dragons, Disney villains, and even Jigsaw. But I stumbled upon Lady Gaga’s The Countess while looking for something witchy, and it just clicked! I’m a fan of American Horror Story, having tuned in since the second season. And while I was sad about Jessica Lange’s departure from the series, the addition of Lady Gaga softened the blow. Just hope she has a bigger role next season, if she continues with the series. (BTW, so curious to see how Roanoke will turn out. Not a fan of found footage stuff, but the story is intriguing enough to keep me going.)

FOTD: Easy Pinks

I’m addicted to neutrals, but my second default palette color is pink. It’s always been flattering on me, and I can do a monochromatic look without looking flat. It’s a no-brainer choice, but livelier than the usual earth tones. For example:

Sunday Smokey

Or it’s more like “Smokey as It Gets for Me”. Because I don’t think I could every go full-on Kim Kardashian with smokey eyes, I try the concept with non-black/gray shadows instead. This FOTD is another attempt, and I used dark brown and dark plum shadows for the bold color. I also focused on contouring the outer corners of my eyes (with a vertical gradation method) to make them look bigger.

Election Day FOTD

The Philippine election season has heated up in more ways than one! It has been said that the 2016 election has been the most intense in the modern history of the country. So much drama, and it didn’t even end with the debates and the voting. (In case you’re unaware, there was a Twitter hashtag that trended over the last 24 hours. It concerned the candidates and their family members. It may or may not involve controversial NSFW fictional stuff. Oh my.)

But anyway, the mood struck me to do a full face on voting day. Never mind that it was stifling hot and the line was expected to be at least an hour long! lol
