Marc Jacobs Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon

Does functionality play a major part in the decision to purchase/use a certain piece of makeup? To me, it is a huge factor in determining which products land in my everyday makeup kit. So while I love a good pot of gel eyeliner, the handy twist-up version is what I’m more likely to reach for when I’m in a hurry (which is most of the time). So let’s see if the new Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Matte Gel Eye CrayonsΒ in (Earth)quake and (Brown)ie (USD 25) can roll with the punches.

What’s Hot From Eye of Horus

The year is coming to a close, and I find myself already thinking about my beauty goals for 2017. For 2016, I was all about highlighting/contouring and picking up bronzer for the first time (review later!), but I want to ring in the new year with a renewed dedication to eyes. Admittedly, I have been sticking to bold lips to make a quick job of it, but I want to put more time towards learning new ways to define eyes. And so I set about to start practicing with the help of Eye of Horus Easy on the Eyes Glamourbox (PHP 1,290) and the new Eye of Horus Bio Lash Lift Mascara (PHP 1,150).

October 2016 Empties

Random Personal Update: I pledged 20 books on Good Reads, andΒ I’ve still got 8 books to go before the end of the year. Still going through a lot of YA thrillers, because that’s often the way to get me to finish a book within 10 days. (Meaning, I elect to lose sleep to go through a page-turner.)

Also, re-watching the entire Harry Potter series in time for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It’s something of a personal tradition that started with every HP book release. Only then, I used to re-read the books. I don’t have the time to do that now, so the condensed 2-hour version should suffice. (BTW, have you guys seen the fanart of the HP-themed shadow palettes? Merlin’s beard, please let them become a reality!)

Buuut, going back to beauty, here are my latest empties. There’s quite a bit of them this time:

Project Vanity Wanderlust Kit

Confession: I am the girl who over-packs no matter what. When I travel with family, it is to the dismay of my mother to see just how many bath and beauty products I force into a small case. I set a rule for myself that everything has to fit into a pouch or case, but I’m always cramming things in to the point of case deformity. And even in my purse, friends often chuckle over why I insist on bringing enough makeup to do a full face from start to finish. Needless to say, the first thing that usually breaks from may vanity kit is the zipper. lol

When the Project Vanity kits came out, I was thrilled and thought the concept was genius. It’s made for hoarders like me who have a difficult time curating their kikay kit. These themed pouches (and one bag) do the thinking for you. It’s kind of like a subscription box, but with a receptacle you can tote around daily. Here’s what I brought to my vacation that significantly lessened my luggage weight:

Happy Skin Eye Am Here To Stay 24h Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

I debated whether or not to still go ahead and write the review for this. You see, I got this Happy Skin Eye Am Here To Stay 24h Waterproof EyelinerΒ (PHP 599) last year but promptly forgot all about it. It was brand-spanking-new off the box, and I didn’t even open it once before stuffing it in my vanity and completely neglecting it. Fast forward to this year when it’s been in there 11 months, and I have the sense to decide to break it out. Guess what happened?
