Merzy The First Pen Eyeliner

I’m happy to report that I have been more consistent with my makeup application these days. (It only took two years!) But my idea of a fully done face has shifted from medium coverage to nude with defined eyes. Brow pencil and liquid liner is the fastest way to achieve that, and my current go-to is Merzy The First Pen Eyeliner in P2 Brownie (PHP 332 / USD 9).

Fenty Beauty Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner

I have stuck with liquid liner pens almost exclusively since discovering them. For my semi monolids, the thinnest line that gets as close to my lash line saves a whole lot of eyelid space for my eyeshadow du jour to shine through. And while my go-to is usually a Japanese brand (for their ultra-fine tips created for monolids), Fenty Beauty Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in Cuz I’m Black (PHP 1,150).

Marc Jacobs Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon

Does functionality play a major part in the decision to purchase/use a certain piece of makeup? To me, it is a huge factor in determining which products land in my everyday makeup kit. So while I love a good pot of gel eyeliner, the handy twist-up version is what I’m more likely to reach for when I’m in a hurry (which is most of the time). So let’s see if the new Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayons in (Earth)quake and (Brown)ie (USD 25) can roll with the punches.

What’s Hot From Eye of Horus

The year is coming to a close, and I find myself already thinking about my beauty goals for 2017. For 2016, I was all about highlighting/contouring and picking up bronzer for the first time (review later!), but I want to ring in the new year with a renewed dedication to eyes. Admittedly, I have been sticking to bold lips to make a quick job of it, but I want to put more time towards learning new ways to define eyes. And so I set about to start practicing with the help of Eye of Horus Easy on the Eyes Glamourbox (PHP 1,290) and the new Eye of Horus Bio Lash Lift Mascara (PHP 1,150).
