I am nowhere close to making the move to pro makeup artistry at this point in my life. While I have the interest in cosmetics, the commitment (and budget!) it entails is not something I’m ready for. And I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready, to be honest. But that doesn’t prevent me from choosing products that make me feel a like a pro, even just a little bit. For some reason, that’s the impression I have of loose powder, and I’m writing about Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder (USD 38 / PHP 1,750) today, a brand that is popular in the pro beauty world.

The Philippine election season has heated up in more ways than one! It has been said that the 2016 election has been the most intense in the modern history of the country. So much drama, and it didn’t even end with the debates and the voting. (In case you’re unaware, there was a Twitter hashtag that trended over the last 24 hours. It concerned the candidates and their family members. It may or may not involve controversial NSFW fictional stuff. Oh my.)
But anyway, the mood struck me to do a full face on voting day. Never mind that it was stifling hot and the line was expected to be at least an hour long! lol

My weekend is looking to be mellower than expected. I was supposed to meet a bunch of friends for a long-overdue reunion, but half the group suddenly had to postpone (again) due to sudden commitments. I think this is the third postponement? Aaaah, the sad part of being adults. We’re lucky if we’re all under the same roof twice a year. So now I’m staying productive and entertained by getting a lot of writing done while binge-watching The Good Wife. I’m currently on season 2, by the way.
One of today’s writing activities is this blog entry on post-holiday product empties. Click on the product names to read their full reviews.
There are short trips, and there are long trips. This one went well over a week in a place with bright sunshine and chilly wind, but little humidity. Meaning, we’re not in Kansas anymore. In packing for the trip, I went into full-on survivalist mode with my makeup bag. (As survivalist as a beauty junkie could get, I suppose.) As usual, the goal was to be able to create many different looks with as few pieces as I could manage. Challenge accepted.
I’ve never been one for novelty beauty products, but I’m starting to warm up to them. After incorporating more Korean and Japanese products to my regimen, I’m starting to think that those fruit-shaped containers and jelly-like moisturizers are actually… kinda cute. But the goods aren’t limited to Asia. French makeup artist, Laura Mercier, has come up with a special body lotion like Ambre Vanille Souffle Body Creme (full size at USD 60) that’s almost good enough to eat.
