Beauty Wishlist Summer 2016

Once or twice a year, I like to make beauty wish lists to try and set a goal or budget for my beauty buys. Of course, half the list turn out to be lemmings, but it’s fun to see which products I want bad enough as to actually end up purchasing them. This year, I have 5 items on my list. They are:

My Version of Survival Makeup

There are short trips, and there are long trips. This one went well over a week in a place with bright sunshine and chilly wind, but little humidity. Meaning, we’re not in Kansas anymore. In packing for the trip, I went into full-on survivalist mode with my makeup bag. (As survivalist as a beauty junkie could get, I suppose.) As usual, the goal was to be able to create many different looks with as few pieces as I could manage. Challenge accepted.

2015 Wishlist (aka Love It or Lemming?)

Working with my new beauty budget is tricky. I still want so many things, but I’m constantly trying to remind myself that 2015 is all about NOT hoarding. I’m going to include things that aren’t in my budget since dreams are free, but I intend to think each entry carefully before deciding what to go for. Ergo, I’m also jotting down the reasons not to go for these items. Pros and cons, people. Lemmings are the enemy!

1. Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Black Karat

Smokey, sexy black gold. Need I say more? Okay, fine. I’ve never been into black smokey eyes. It’s always been brown, blue, or purple. The farthest I’ve gone with black is black gold, even with eyeliner. This kind of color is something I could play with, but then again I don’t want to spend so much just to toy around with the concept of black gold. It has to be for keeps!

2. Dr. Jart BB Cream: Black Label or Silver Label

For the moment, I’m excusing myself from the great foundation debate. My recent dry skin dilemma has successfully given me a new-found respect for BB cream, so I’m looking to explore a few Asian brands. Dr. Jart is on my Luxola list for the rave reviews, but I’m having trouble deciding on the color. The “finalists” are silver label (yellow-toned, matte finish, but light) and black label (beige). Dr. Jart no longer has distribution in the Philippines, so it’s going to have to be a blind buy. (That’s a con, right there!)  I still have a SGD 20 gift card or I could wait for the next sale, but I want to chose carefully.

3. Chanel Extrait de Gloss in Merveille

I swatched randomly and fell for it. Sometimes it looks plum, sometimes it looks brown. I’m starting to think it’s the lip gloss version of Laura Mercier’s Amethyst Caviar Stick.  I’m loving the confusion and I’m loving the high pigmentation on this gloss even more, but not so much the hefty price tag and the fact that I’ve already hoarded a healthy amount of gloss.

4. Happy Skin ZZ Cream

The Zit Zapper Second Skin Cream is apparently a foundation. Here I was thinking it was a BB cream, especially because it’s only available in one shade. Didn’t get to do a full-on lighting test last time, so I’ll revisit this at a later date. I like how it’s supposed to combat acne, but I don’t like the lack of color selection.

5. Etude House Sparkling Toc!s All In One Gel

I have no shortage of moisturizers at the moment, so the purchase of this will have to come at a much later time. It smells like lemon-lime soda, plus it looks cute. The reasons for wanting this is as shallow as it gets, but that’s how I got some of my Korean beauty products in the first place.

Lust List: Fall/Winter 2014

This was supposed to be posted on the 29th, but I had to add another one to the list: MUFE Foundation! Just my end-of-year wishlist that I didn’t even expect to have…

1. Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in 31 Satin Mauve Pink

MUFE Satin Mauve Pink

Y u so beautiful?! I was out looking for MLBB lipstick, when I stumbled upon this gorgeous creation. It was love at first swatch! Buuuut I didn’t go for it because it would set me back PHP 1,400, and I had another lipstick in mind. Couldn’t find a close-enough dupe when I went to Bobbi Brown or MAC.

2. Benefit Watt’s Up! Soft Focus Highlighter

Watt’s Up!

Soft focus = fine shimmer + NO glitter. Perfectly natural golden glow. As in, GLOW. I have the deluxe sample, and I am all over it like a total fan girl. Love that it comes in stick form, so I can directly apply to the face and blend away.

3. Laura Mercier Secret Concealer

Laura Mercier

Is there a concealer that can go beyond the performance of my beloved Zero Kuma? I’d love to find out. I’ve read the raves on Laura Mercier concealer, but I have yet to do a trial.

4. A decent fluffy powder brush

A brush up

It doesn’t have to be branded, so long as it blends loose powder decently and doesn’t stain my fingers (and face) black. *ehem* The Face Shop *ehem*

5. Kiehl’s Creme de Corps

Creme de Corps

The last few months have been rough on my skin. I’ve already switched to a milder soap, but my skin is still drying out from the changing weather. If I so much as forget to put on lotion or my lotion isn’t rich enough, I start to suffer from dry patches. I need a skin savior!

6. Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in 120 Soft Sand

HD Foundation 120

If I really wanted to kick it into overdrive, why not go for a foundation that flatters on- and off-cam? Yeah, it’s not like I have cameras in front of me, but my inner diva just wants to experience HD makeup. MUFE has a legendary reputation for being surprisingly gentle on the skin, so I want to take the chance. (Thanks, Vee, for reminding me about MUFE foundies. :p ) By the way, my trial for this foundie ended up with me also trying Aqua Brow and MUFE’s cream blush, and both performed wonderfully.

Know of any dupes for the stuff on my list? Please share. 🙂
