Currently, my biggest beauty undertaking of 2018 is joining the #ABMidyearStashChallenge on Instagram. The prospect of sorting through my collection and categorizing/documenting what I have is helpful in maintaining my beauty low-buy pledge, since I’m being met with the sheer amount I still have to use up. It’s also also caused me to dig through the beauty products that I’ve nearly forgotten about. Now I’m in the mood to line them up for review, starting with the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask in Vitalizing (estimated PHP 400 / USD 9).

Random Personal Update: I pledged 20 books on Good Reads, and I’ve still got 8 books to go before the end of the year. Still going through a lot of YA thrillers, because that’s often the way to get me to finish a book within 10 days. (Meaning, I elect to lose sleep to go through a page-turner.)
Also, re-watching the entire Harry Potter series in time for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It’s something of a personal tradition that started with every HP book release. Only then, I used to re-read the books. I don’t have the time to do that now, so the condensed 2-hour version should suffice. (BTW, have you guys seen the fanart of the HP-themed shadow palettes? Merlin’s beard, please let them become a reality!)
Buuut, going back to beauty, here are my latest empties. There’s quite a bit of them this time:
Clockwise from Top-Left: Nivea Extra White Firming Body Lotion, The Body Shop Shea Body Butter, Nivea Creme, Zenutrients Rich Cocoa Body Butter
While some people may rejoice for the summer months, my approach is more of trepidation. Extreme weather shifts tend to bring out the worst in my skin, so sudden cool, dry air or humid, heat will rip into my pores like you wouldn’t believe. I get more prone to breakouts. That’s why I keep in mind to up my skin pampering sessions. I’ve got Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask (USD 25) to work overtime on my face.

I like to alternate between mask types to change my routine a little, so it’s important for me to find a brand that doesn’t react when I choose to switch around. Valentia Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask (original price at USD 54.99; currently on sale for USD 25) came with my Valentia True Glow Eye Cream, and it was an interesting departure from the sheet masks of late.

How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day. I did not get to ask sooner, but I was kind of feeling all over the place. To answer my own question, I haven’t actually celebrated yet with my significant other. I was sick in the latter part of last week, so I was confined to bed. M, on the other hand, had to work that day, so we thought it best to postpone until we could celebrate without the chaos on Valentine’s Day itself. I actually ended up catching this hilarious Filipino movie called, Love is Blind, with my parents. I guess they were my Valentines as I was recovering from a sore throat and a fever.
Speaking of being sick, don’t you just hate feeling super gross when you’re not at 100%? I couldn’t wash my hair and my skin was sallow and bumpy. Definitely the first thing I enjoyed once I felt better was a nice, long bath. I also included an at-home peel session using Philosophy The Microdelivery Peel to get my skin back to normal mode.

Quick Specs: 60 ml / 2 fl oz each ; made in the USA
The two-step Microdelivery Peel is actually one of Philosophy’s most expensive products, so it is something to carefully think about before purchasing. If you’re contemplating it, do read this review to gain more insight before taking the plunge.
