Valentia True Glow Eye Cream

To be honest, I didn’t get much sleep over the weekend. Coming back from a vacation means hitting the ground running with work (even on the weekends), so I’ve been going to bed at around 4 am. Last month, I suffered from some stress-related insomnia, so I was clocking in around the same hours. I have to remind myself to take it one day at a time as the “onslaught” already caused me to come down with a fever last month. Still, I choose to maintain a positive outlook. I’m so grateful for the work I do and for being productive. 🙂 And if I can’t sleep for long, at the very least I can keep my eye luggage cool and moist with Valentia True Glow Eye Cream (regular price USD 54.99).

Ingredients

I often associate brown bottles with ‘lab’ or spa beauty products. It’s basic presentation, yes, but it also comes across as well-placed. The brand acknowledges that skincare products are photosensitive, so at least they took the necessary precautions. Additional attention to detail is always appreciated.

Pump

Valentia True Glow Eye Cream comes in said brown bottle with a black plastic pump and a clear plastic lid. The pump presents a problem with the amount of eye cream dispensed at a given time. It’s hard to press, so I’ve ended up pushing down more than I’m supposed to on several occasions. Too much cream gets dispensed, and I don’t want to return it to the bottle for fear of the rest of the cream going rancid. If pressed too lightly, either the pump doesn’t lower or only air comes out.

The eye cream itself is light orange in color and lightweight/puffy. It has a mild, energizing scent that could be lemongrass or citronella. The formula has a consistency that glides gamely at the fingertips. It’s easy to coax into the corners and fine lines, and I have yet to experience accidentally getting product into my eyes. The skin around my eyes absorb the cream fast, and it leaves just the subtlest hint of a sheen (possibly good for reflecting light and giving off the impression of a brightened eye area) and a mild cooling sensation. No greasy feel whatsoever. Using this under makeup does not cause foundation/concealer/powder to cake, so it’s a good twice-a-day eye treatment.

This Valentia Intensive Corrective Eye Treatment claims to reduce wrinkles, hydrate, tighten eye area, brighten dark circles, and restore radiance. The formula is alcohol-free, paraben-free, and is suitable for all skin types. So far so good… I haven’t experienced any irritation, and I like the mildness of the eye cream. I didn’t really experience an instant brightening effect, apart from a slight, light-reflecting sheen upon application. Aside from the highlighted vitamin c (skin brightener), rosehip oil (for added moisture), and asthanxanthin (strong antioxidant) content, the ingredients list also features lots of skin-friendly ingredients like Aloe Vera and botanical hyaluronic acid. Those are main ingredients that deliver plenty of soothing moisture.

Verdict: The scent initially made me think that the eye cream would be some sort of extra-strong formula that could potentially sting. Perhaps it’s from my previous experience with potent lemongrass/citronella mosquito repellent lotions. Well, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Valentia True Glow Eye Cream has treated my eye skin carefully. I just wish they could improve on the pump.

Note: This eye cream can be ordered via Amazon or the Valentia website. BTW, True Glow is currently on sale at USD 25! That’s 55% off.
